Lunar Rise, Birmingham

Rising to the regeneration challenge!

We are delighted to be working on one of the largest urban regeneration schemes in Britain. Birmingham City Council's 25 year masterplan includes a prestigious flagship development called Lunar Rise in the regeneration of Digbeth. It is a major investment for Shanghai-based developers Prosperous Global China (PGC) Capital.

Lunar Rise will have 517 mixed 1 and 2 bed apartments comprising of 3 separate buildings with two 10 storey blocks facing High Street, Digbeth, which are punctuated by a 24 storey building at the high point of the site. The scheme will have amenity space and residential parking, together with retail and commercial space at ground floor. The development will create a new focal point for Digbeth with a re-animated street scene, creating new high-quality apartments focused around south facing courtyards and elevated views back towards the city centre.

PGC have chosen our Rapidres offsite fastrack build system for the project. We will supply the full pre-cast frame with etched concrete façade panels, exoskeleton frame and pre finished balcony units. Lunar Rise will be a busy and logistically challenging site, so it’s essential to maximise efficiencies in the build programme to minimise the impact of the development during the construction phase. Using Rapidres will help achieve operational efficiencies. Most of the structure for the three buildings will utilise Rapidres off-site manufactured components, which are directly installed from the delivery lorries and craned into position. The precast façade panels have also been designed to allow offsite installation of the window units, negating the requirement for any external scaffolding or mast climbers. This will provide quality, safety, speed and overall efficiency to deliver this major scheme far more quickly than traditional construction methods.
